STETHS edge Glenmuir on penalties to lift daCosta Cup title
· The GleanerSt Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) captured the 2025 ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup rural schoolboy football crown after edging Glenmuir High 8-7 on penalties at the National Stadium on Saturday evening.
The final ended scoreless after regulation time, forcing the dramatic shootout. The title is STETHS’ sixth overall and their first since 2015.
The championship win is a major boost for STETHS and St Elizabeth parish, which are still recovering from the devastation left by Hurricane Melissa.
STETHS were forced to dig deep after being reduced to 10 players in the 55th minute, when Kenoy Banton was shown a straight red card for a violent tackle.
Despite enjoying a numerical advantage for the final 35 minutes, the Clarendon-based Glenmuir were unable to capitalise, as the Omar Wedderburn-coached STETHS defended resolutely to keep their opponents at bay.
