The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Unofficial PC Port Released
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingZelda fans, the time has come. The first unofficial native PC port for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has just been released. This port will let you experience this Zelda game on your PC, without having to rely on emulation.
Going into more details, this PC version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has uncapped framerates. That’s right. You will be able to play this classic Zelda game with framerates higher than 30FPS or 60FPS. This will be a dream come true for a lot of its fans.
Here is how the devs have achieved this:
“Dusk essentially allows the game to render frames at a faster rate than which the game world updates (or “ticks”). Much like the original game, Dusk still ticks 30 times per second. This ensures that the game is faithful to the original experience and behaves as expected, which is important to certain types of players like speedrunners.
When the frame rate is faster than the tick rate, you end up having to render frames between ticks – even though the game world isn’t actually updating. Dusk uses information about how objects are moving through the world to create a close approximation of what the world would look like at that moment in time and renders that. This is very similar to how many modern, well-built game engines work.”
Moreover, the PC version comes with full Gyro aim support. Plus, it’s fully compatible with the Steam Deck.
And that’s not all. While the PC version has all the features of the console version, it also comes with some QoL improvements. For instance, there is fast climbing, you can skip dialogues, there is fast transformation, and you can use Sun’s Song to change the time of day.
All in all, this is currently the best way to experience The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. And, as with all the unofficial PC ports we’ve seen these past couple of years, Nintendo will not be able to shut it down.
You can go ahead and download it from this link. As always, you will also need the North American (NTSC) or the European (PAL) GameCube ROM file of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. For those wondering, no. Otherwise, you won’t be able to play it. There is no support for the Wii version as of yet.
Needless to say, we won’t share any download links for the ROM file. Also, if you share a download link in the Comment section, your comment will be deleted. So, consider this your warning.
In case you are into projects like these, you can also download the unofficial PC port of Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Crash Team Racing, and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. You can also play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Perfect Dark, and Jak & Daxter. And that’s not all of them. We also have the unofficial PC ports of Mario Party 4, Sonic Unleashed, and Super Smash Bros 64.
Have fun!
