CD Projekt RED has just announced the third expansion for The Witcher 3, called Songs of the Past. Songs of the Past will be released in 2027, and below you can find the first small details about it.

CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory. This is a team comprising industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3.

The expansion will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure. This means that we’ll, once again, take the role of Geralt and not of Ciri. So, this will please those fans who were disappointed with The Witcher 4.

The Witcher 3 has sold more than 60 million copies since its release in 2015 and is the winner of more than 250 Game of the Year awards and 1,000 industry awards. It lets players explore a dark fantasy open world as witcher Geralt of Rivia as he takes on the most important contract of his life: saving his daughter Ciri.

It’s also worth noting that the devs have changed the game’s official PC requirements. The new minimum PC specs list an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and an Intel Core i5-8400, 12GB of RAM, 70GB of SSD, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or an AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT.

And that’s that. CD Project RED stated that it will share more details about Songs of the Past in the coming months. Until then, we really don’t have anything more to share.

Speaking of The Witcher 3, here are some mods that add new free content to the game. In July 2024, we shared mods that restored the boat races and added 15 new quests. A modder has also restored the reputation system that CDPR cut from the game. Plus, there is a cool fan expansion, based on the original book “The Last Wish”.

And that’s not all. This mod allows you to explore a part of the world from the first The Witcher game. Another cool fan expansion is Dawn Over Kovir. This mod is inspired by The Witcher 4 Cinematic Reveal Trailer and adds the Kingdom of Kovir and the Poviss region to the game.

The Wild Monster Hunt is another fan expansion that adds a new map to the game, a camp where you can upgrade your gear, and unique gameplay mechanics. Finally, you can download the Let There Be Light, Tales of The Witcher, Song of Wind, and The Price Of Neutrality fan expansions.

Have fun!
