Zelda II: The Adventure of Link Unofficial PC HD Remake Released
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingZelda fans, here is something really special for you today. Troygentic has just released an unofficial PC HD Remake of the NES Zelda game, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. This unofficial HD Remake will allow you to play this classic Zelda game natively on PC.
What’s really cool is that Troygentic has gone the extra mile to rework some of the game’s sprites. Not all areas are finished yet, but the first areas are now complete. As you can see in the trailer below, they look incredible.
And that’s not all. This unofficial HD Remake supports widescreen with real scenery on the sides instead of a stretched image. It also adds two-player co-op, letting a second Link join on the same system or online. We also get save states, fast-forward, movie playback, and gamepad support.
In short, this is the HD remake that many Zelda 2 fans have wanted for years. The funny part is that you cannot play it on a Nintendo console. On PC, though, you can experience it right now.
You can go ahead and download this HD remake of Zelda 2 from here. As for the HD Texture Pack, you’ll have to visit Troygentic’s Discord server to download it.
To avoid any legal issues, this project does not contain any in-game assets. This means you’ll have to provide your own ROM to play it.
In case you are into projects like these, you can also download the unofficial PC ports of Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Crash Team Racing, and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. You can also play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Perfect Dark, WET, and Jak & Daxter.
