Amanda Seyfried Standing Her Ground & 'Not F**king Apologizing' For Calling Charlie Kirk Hateful: 'I'm Free To Have An Opinion'
by Perez Hilton · Perez HiltonAmanda Seyfried is standing by her comments about Charlie Kirk!
In September, the actress came under fire days after the assassination of the right-wing influencer. She commented that, “He was hateful,” under a video discussing his problematic views on abortion, immigration, transgender rights, and more. Her words ticked off a lot of people, leading Amanda to later clarified her statement on Instagram. She wrote:
“I don’t want to add fuel to a fire. I just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context. Spirited discourse — isn’t that what we should be having? We’re forgetting the nuance of humanity. I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric, and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing in every way imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence. This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?”
Regardless of what anyone thinks about her comment, however, she refuses to apologize for it now. She told Who What Wear on Wednesday:
“I’m not f**king apologizing for that. I mean, for f**k’s sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course.”
The Mamma Mia star is also thankful for Instagram after the controversy, explaining:
“I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized — which is what people do, of course.”
Amanda is clearly not backing down, no matter what anyone says. Thoughts, Perezcious readers? Let us know!
