by Perez Hilton · Perez HiltonBrigitte Bardot has passed away.
It’s with heavy hearts we report the iconic French actress has sadly died at the age of 91. Her animal rights foundation, the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, announced the news on Sunday in a statement obtained by CNN:
“The Brigitte Bardot Foundation pays tribute to the memory of an exceptional woman who gave everything and gave up everything for a world more respectful of animals. Her legacy lives on through the actions and struggles the Foundation continues with the same passion and the same fidelity to her ideals.”
Bruno Jacquelin, a representative with her foundation, told the Associated Press the model, who’s widely recognized as being one of the world’s first sex symbols, passed away in her home in the South of France on Sunday after a recent hospitalization. While he didn’t share details of said hospitalization, TMZ reported it was for a serious illness which required surgery. Jacquelin did however reveal that as of now, no funeral or memorial arrangements have been made.
In the wake of her death announcement, French President Emmanuel Macron took to X (Twitter) to memorialize her:
“Her films, her voice, her dazzling glory, her initials, her sorrows, her generous passion for animals, her face that became Marianne, Brigitte Bardot embodied a life of freedom. French existence, universal brilliance. She touched us. We mourn a legend of the century.”
Our hearts are with Brigitte’s loved ones. She is survived by husband Bernard d’Ormale and son Nicolas-Jacques Charrier. Rest in peace.
