NBBofC seeks BoxRec cooperation over suspension investigation
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineThe Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) has formally requested information and cooperation from BoxRec as part of ongoing investigations into a petition that led to the suspension of the board’s sanctioned schedules and fights on the international boxing records database.
The request was made through the board’s appointed independent investigator, Dr. Bob Olukoya of Fort Knight Partners.
In a letter addressed to BoxRec Chief Executive Officer, Dr Marina Sheppard, Olukoya said he was conducting an independent review of the circumstances surrounding the matter on behalf of the NBBofC.
According to him, the investigation is aimed at establishing the facts, promoting transparency and safeguarding the integrity of Nigerian boxing records.
As part of the investigation, Olukoya requested a copy of the petition reportedly submitted to BoxRec by Nigerian boxing stakeholder Onyeka Elum.

He also asked for copies of all correspondence and evidence relied upon by BoxRec in reaching its decision to delist the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control from its platform.
The ongoing investigation is expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the petition and the subsequent suspension of the NBBofC’s sanctioned schedules and fights on the international boxing records database.
