Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Friday were denied access to the detained former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) headquarters.

The Eagle Online reports that the ADC leaders include its National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, and Secretary of the ADC Manifesto and Policy Committee, Mallam Salihu Lukman.

The delegation was denied access to El-Rufai when they attempted to see him amid ongoing investigations and his detention, which the party has previously decried as politically motivated.

Since El-Rufai’s political troubles began, the ADC has been highly vocal, condemning what they describe as the persecution and arbitrary detention of opposition figures.

The ADC has repeatedly called for due process and transparency, alleging that the ruling party is using state institutions to clamp down on opposition voices.
