by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineBarcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez is set to miss the 2026 World Cup after suffering a fractured metatarsal that requires surgery.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury during Barcelona’s 3-1 La Liga victory over Real Betis on Sunday before being substituted at half-time.

Spain are due to begin their campaign against Cape Verde on June 15, with the national team coach expected to announce his final squad next week.
Fermin had become an important figure for both Barcelona and Spain due to his energetic displays and attacking contribution from midfield.
