US offers reward for information on Khamenei, other Iranian leaders

The United States Government has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to key Iranian officials, including the country’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The monetary offer was made through the United States of America’s Department of State Rewards for Justice programme.

The programme seeks intelligence on individuals the US accuses of directing or supporting terrorist activities across the world.

In a notice circulated online, the programme said it was looking for credible information on several figures believed to be linked to the operations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s elite military organisation that Washington has long accused of coordinating militant networks and attacks beyond the country’s borders.

Among those named are Iran’s Intelligence Minister, Esmail Khatib; Deputy Chief of Staff to the Supreme Leader, Ali Asghar Hejazi; Senior Military Adviser, Yahya Rahim Safavi; Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni; and senior political figure, Ali Larijani.

According to the programme, individuals with useful intelligence about the officials or their networks may submit it through secure communication channels. Those who provide credible tips could qualify for the multimillion-dollar reward and, in some cases, relocation support for their safety.

The announcement comes days after Mojtaba Khamenei assumed leadership following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, during the early phase of the ongoing confrontation involving Iran and a United States-Israel military coalition.

Since taking office, the new Iranian leader has vowed that the country will continue to resist what he described as foreign aggression, raising concerns among analysts that the standoff between both sides could escalate further in the coming weeks.
