PDP constitutes Abia State Chapter caretaker committee

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has constituted the Caretaker Committee for the Abia State Chapter of the party.

The National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, announced the constitution of the Caretaker Committee in a statement on Monday.

This came after members of a PDP group in Abia State protested at the national headquarters of the party on Monday.

According to Ologunagba, the NWC constituted the caretaker committee on behalf of the National Executive Committee pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).

The statement said the NWC also did so following the expiration of the tenure of the State Executive Committee.

It said the committee will “run the affairs of the Abia State Chapter of the Party as stipulated in Section 21(2) (a-b) of the PDP Constitution for a period not exceeding 90 days (3 months), or till a new Executive Committee is elected”.

The members of the Abia State PDP Caretaker Committee are Alwell Asiforo Okere, Chairman; Obinna Nwachukwu, Member; Christy Emenike, Member; Ben Okezie, Member; and Chijioke Nkaru, Member.

Other members of the committee are Victor Ebere, Chukuwudi Ezebuiro, Love Onina, and Nduka Nwaorisara.

According to Ologunagba, Kenneth Madubike will serve as Secretary, while Innocent Ezekiel is the Administrative Secretary.

Ologunagba added: “The NWC charges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our Party in Abia State to remain united and continue to work together for the progress of the Party.”
