Shakira, Madonna, BTS to headline 2026 World Cup final halftime show
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineFIFA has announced that global music stars Shakira, Madonna and BTS will headline the first-ever halftime show during the 2026 World Cup final.
The final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.
According to FIFA, the halftime performance will combine football and entertainment as part of efforts to support global education initiatives for children.
The show will be curated by Chris Martin and is expected to raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which focuses on improving access to quality education and football coaching for underprivileged children.
FIFA unveiled the entertainment lineup through a social media broadcast featuring characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets.
Shakira’s inclusion comes after the release of the official tournament song, “Dai Dai”, recorded alongside Burna Boy.

FIFA also announced a broader entertainment programme across the three host countries — the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium on June 12 is set to feature performances by Katy Perry and Future.
Additional performances are planned for the Canadian and Mexican opening events, with Michael Buble and J Balvin expected to lead celebrations in Toronto and Mexico City respectively.
FIFA said the expanded entertainment plans reflect the scale of the 48-team tournament and efforts to attract a wider global audience beyond football.
