Salah arrives in Turkey ahead of expected Trabzonspor move

The 34-year-old landed at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on Wednesday, where hundreds of Trabzonspor supporters gathered to welcome him ahead of his expected move to the Turkish club.
Salah arrived wearing Trabzonspor’s burgundy and blue colours and acknowledged the supporters before leaving for a medical examination.
The former Liverpool forward is also expected to travel to Trabzon, with club chairman Ertugrul Dogan saying the Turkish side expects to sign him on a free transfer at a ceremony on Thursday.
Trabzonspor had confirmed on Tuesday that negotiations were underway with the Egypt international.
The club said: “Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Ataturk Airport… at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5.
“The player is scheduled to arrive in Trabzon on the same day in the evening hours.”
Following his arrival, Salah addressed supporters in a video shared by Trabzonspor.
He said: “Trabzon, are you ready?
“I can hear you. See you very soon.
“Everywhere is Trabzon to us.”
Salah is available on a free transfer after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season following nine years at Anfield.
The Egyptian scored 257 goals in 442 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, leaving as the third-highest goalscorer in the club’s history.

He also helped the Reds win two Premier League titles and the Champions League during his successful spell in England.
The forward had also been linked with Besiktas, but negotiations reportedly stalled over financial and image-rights demands.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season and qualified for the Europa League play-off round.
Details of the contract Salah is expected to sign have yet to be disclosed.
