Bayern welcome Kane with guard of honour after Ballon d’Or win
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineBayern Munich have celebrated Harry Kane’s Ballon d’Or triumph by welcoming the England captain back to the club with a guard of honour ahead of their DFB Cup fixture against 1. FC Magdeburg on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old received the reception on Tuesday as teammates, club officials, staff members and fans applauded him and other Bayern representatives returning from the awards ceremony in London.
Kane walked through a guard of honour formed by club staff on his way to the training pitch at Säbener Straße, accompanied by loud cheers and chants of “Harry, Harry”.
Bayern described the reception as an emotional moment for Kane and the club’s players as they prepared for their final training session before Wednesday’s cup encounter.
The striker won the Ballon d’Or as the world’s best footballer for the 2025/26 season at Monday’s ceremony, becoming the first Bayern player in 45 years to claim the prestigious award since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s triumph.
Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer and Rummenigge had previously won the award while representing the German club.
Kane also collected the trophy for the best striker of the 2025/26 season, adding to the recognition he received for his performances.
