NFF names new coaches for Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the country’s U-20 and U-17 male national teams respectively.

The appointments were approved by the NFF Executive Committee following recommendations from the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee.

Maikaba takes over the Flying Eagles from Aliyu Zubairu, while Uwejamomere has been named head coach of the Golden Eaglets.

Maikaba returns to the national youth setup with previous experience handling the Golden Eaglets and serving as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure.

The experienced tactician has managed several Nigeria Premier Football League clubs, including Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Wikki Tourists and Plateau United.

He also guided Akwa United to victory in the 2017 Federation Cup, now known as the President Federation Cup.

Uwejamomere, meanwhile, steps into the Golden Eaglets role after years working with the Super Eagles as a coach-analyst.

He currently serves as head of academy at Sporting Lagos, which recently secured promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The newly appointed Golden Eaglets coach also previously worked with the Super Falcons and held youth development coaching roles at Millwall, Gillingham and Nottingham Forest in England.

He also managed Abeokuta-based Stormers FC before his latest appointment.

These appointments, announced by the Nigeria Football Federation, are part of a broader technical restructuring that also recently saw Akeem Ishola Busari appointed as head coach of the U-17 girls’ team, the Flamingos
