Oyo Abduction: 28-year-old Lieutenant killed during rescue operation buried + Photo
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineA 28-year-old Officer of the Nigerian Army killed in the early phase of the rescue operation of the abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, has been buried, The Nation is reporting.
According to a report by the credible newspaper, the officer was buried on July 10, 2026, the day the abductees were rescued.
Isaac, who was buried on July 10, 2026 at the 23rd Amoured Brigade Cemetery, Yola, Adamawa State, was born on August 25, 1997 and would have turned 29 this year.
He was killed in the early phase of the rescue operation of the 41 pupils and teachers, including the Principal, Rachael Alamu.
The operation was to rescue the abductees who were kidnapped on May 15, 2026 by gunmen who attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and LA Primary School in Ogbomoso, all in Oriire LGA of Oyo State.
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had given a hint of the death of some security operatives when he reacted to the rescue of the abductees.

Makinde tweeted on his X handle: “Really grateful for the safe return of the children and teachers abducted from Oriire LGA 56 days ago.
“Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience.
“We also commend the security agencies that took part in the rescue operations for their sacrifices.
“May the souls of those who paid the ultimate price rest in peace and may God comfort their families.”
The Eagle Online had also earlier reported the death of security operatives during the initial approach to the kidnappers.
One of those also killed was said to be a Private in the Nigerian Army
In retaliation, the kidnappers beheaded the Mathematics teacher among those abducted.
