Mbappe leads France’s final squad for 2026 World Cup
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineFrance head coach Didier Deschamps has named his final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Kylian Mbappe leading a team packed with experienced stars and emerging talents.
The French squad includes a blend of established internationals and younger players as Les Bleus prepare for another title challenge on the global stage.
AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan headlines the goalkeeping department alongside Brice Samba and Robin Risser.
Deschamps also retained a strong defensive line featuring William Saliba, Ibrahima Konate, Dayot Upamecano, Jules Kounde, Theo Hernandez and Lucas Hernandez.
Chelsea defender Malo Gusto, Aston Villa full-back Lucas Digne and Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix also made the final cut.
In midfield, experienced figures N’Golo Kante, Adrien Rabiot and Aurelien Tchouameni were included alongside younger stars Warren Zaire-Emery, Rayan Cherki, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise.
Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele and Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche also secured places in the squad.

Mbappe will lead France’s attack alongside Marcus Thuram and Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Several notable names, however, missed out on the final squad, including Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, Tottenham forward Randal Kolo Muani and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
France are drawn in a group alongside Senegal, Iraq and Norway for the tournament.
Deschamps’ side head into the competition as one of the favourites, with the squad widely regarded as balanced across defence, midfield and attack.
