Bad news, Caped Crusader fans: "The Batman Part II" has been hit by yet another delay. As of Monday, October 5, 2026, filming has paused on the superhero sequel while writer/director Matt Reeves steps away to deal with a personal matter. Warner Bros. and DC Studios have now issued the following statement (via Deadline):
"Production on 'The Batman Part II' has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon."
As those who've been following this movie are well aware, this is far from the first time "The Batman Part II" has been delayed since it was announced. At different points in time, the follow-up to Reeves' 2022 smash-hit "The Batman" has been slated to hit theaters in 2025, 2026, and 2027, with the film currently scheduled to debut in early 2028. Deadline's sources, however, caution that it's too early to tell if the sequel will need to be postponed again. For our part, we wish Reeves the best and fully support him taking care of his loved ones as need be. Fans can keep waiting for "The Batman Part II," should it have to come to that.
