Nikos Oikonomopoulos Donates €10,000 for Child’s Life-Changing Surgery
by Kosta Papadopoulos · Greek City TimesGreek singer Nikos Oikonomopoulos has quietly donated €10,000 to help fund life-changing surgery for a young boy, completing the amount needed for the child’s treatment without seeking publicity.
The gesture came after the charitable organisation Pediki Hara (Παιδική Χαρά) launched an appeal to raise €13,000 for young Giorgakis, whose specialised hand surgery and ongoing treatment plan depended on the funds.
According to the organisation, the fundraising target was reached in just three days.
Quiet act of generosity
The charity said Oikonomopoulos contacted organisers after learning about the family’s situation. Rather than asking for details or publicity, he simply asked how much money was still required.
When told that €10,000 remained to reach the goal, he transferred the full amount later that evening, allowing the appeal to close and easing the financial burden on the boy’s mother, who has been raising him on her own.
In a statement, Pediki Hara praised the singer’s compassion.
“He didn’t ask whether only a little was left. He simply asked how much was still needed. He didn’t hesitate over the amount or seek publicity. He did what people with big hearts do.”
The organisation added that acts of generosity such as this not only transform the life of a child but also remind society of the power of genuine compassion.
Long history of helping families
According to the charity, this is not the first time Oikonomopoulos has quietly supported families facing hardship.
The organisation said he has repeatedly provided financial assistance behind the scenes, with many of his charitable acts becoming public only after the families involved chose to share their stories.
Thanks to the combined generosity of Oikonomopoulos and dozens of other donors, young Giorgakis can now proceed with the specialised surgery that supporters hope will give him a brighter future.
