The family of Giorgos Mazonakis is seeking the testimony of a nurse who was reportedly present in the treatment room when the singer died at a medical clinic in Kolonaki.
The family is also expected to appoint a technical adviser to monitor the toxicology investigation and help examine the results.
According to reports, the nurse has not yet given a statement to investigators. The family believes she could provide important information about what happened inside the treatment room during Mazonakis’ final moments.
Nurse reportedly raised concerns
The nurse, identified by the initials E.T., was reportedly present during the procedure and allegedly noticed signs that something was wrong before alarms were activated.
According to claims reported by Greek media, she later told people close to her that she noticed a spasm in Mazonakis’ hand and became concerned about his condition.
She reportedly told the doctor, “I don’t see him well.”
The doctor allegedly responded: “Don’t won’t tell me, I’m a doctor.”
These claims have not yet been tested in testimony before investigators.
Reports also state that the nurse was among the people who remained at the clinic after emergency medical personnel took Mazonakis away and was involved in cleaning the treatment area.
The family is now asking investigators to formally call her to give evidence.
Family seeks toxicology oversight
Mazonakis’ family is also moving to appoint a technical adviser to follow the toxicology process.
The move is intended to allow the family to closely monitor the examination of toxicology evidence and the conclusions reached by specialists.
The results could become an important part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
Family lawyer calls for testimony
Family lawyer Charalambos Lykoudis has publicly called on the nurse to provide investigators with everything she knows about the events inside the clinic.
Lykoudis has also made allegations against three employees connected to the case, claiming they gave false accounts.
He said he was considering legal action over alleged perjury and other offences.
Those allegations remain claims made by the family’s lawyer and would need to be established through the ongoing investigation and any subsequent court proceedings.
The nurse’s potential testimony could provide investigators with another account of what happened in the treatment room before Mazonakis was taken to hospital.
The investigation into the singer’s death remains ongoing.
