Crete will join Transavia France’s winter 2026/2027 flight schedule, with direct services between Paris Orly and Heraklion and up to four flights per week.

The Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) described the new connection as a particularly positive development for Greek tourism and efforts to extend the tourism season.

The new route was confirmed during a meeting between GNTO Secretary General Andreas Fiorentinos and Transavia France executives in Paris, where the GNTO participated in the international IFTM Top Resa 2026 tourism exhibition. GNTO France Office head Emy Anagnostopoulou also attended the meeting.

The addition of Heraklion to Transavia France’s winter schedule will further strengthen air connectivity between Greece and France and create new opportunities to attract French visitors to Crete outside the traditional summer season.

The new Crete route follows Transavia’s addition of flights to Thessaloniki during the off-season last year, highlighting the airline’s gradual expansion in Greece beyond the peak summer months.

The two additions form part of the steadily developing cooperation between the GNTO and Transavia France and reflect Greece’s growing appeal as a year-round tourism destination.

The development also supports the Tourism Ministry and GNTO strategy to extend the tourism season, spread visitor flows across different periods and regions, and promote more Greek destinations through authentic and enriched travel experiences throughout the year.

GNTO Secretary General Andreas Fiorentinos welcomed Transavia France’s decision.

“The addition of Crete to Transavia’s winter schedule represents an extremely positive development for Greek tourism and confirms Greece’s strong momentum in the French market, which we consider particularly important,” Fiorentinos said.

“Strengthening direct air connections outside the peak season represents a key condition for achieving our strategic goal of establishing Greece as an attractive and competitive destination throughout the year.

“Crete has all the comparative advantages to play a leading role in this effort. We warmly welcome Transavia’s decision and look forward to continuing and further strengthening our cooperation.”

Transavia France CEO Olivier Mazzucchelli, General Director Julien Mallard and Global Brand and Marketing Director Pauline Arguillère attended the meeting with Fiorentinos.

The participants also discussed Transavia’s overall performance in the Greek market and prospects for further developing cooperation between the two sides.

They placed particular emphasis on strengthening travel flows from France to Greece and increasing demand beyond the traditional peak months, with the aim of gradually supporting tourism throughout the year.

The GNTO and Transavia France have also significantly expanded their cooperation in promoting Greek destinations in the French market.

In 2026, the GNTO’s France office implemented an expanded joint advertising programme with Transavia France, featuring 14 promotional and marketing initiatives for Greek destinations served directly by the French airline.

According to the GNTO announcement, the initiatives form part of a broader, systematic effort to strengthen Greece’s presence in the French tourism market and support direct air connectivity with Greek destinations.

The GNTO-Transavia France partnership forms part of the organisation’s wider strategy to strengthen the international competitiveness of Greek tourism, extend the tourism season and establish Greece as an authentic, sustainable and attractive destination 365 days a year.
