Medvedev Powers into Shanghai Masters Quarterfinals with Win over Tsitsipas

Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 7-5 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters.

The victory improves Medvedev’s head-to-head record against Tsitsipas to 11-5 and marks his third Masters 1000 quarterfinal of the season. He will next face Tommy Paul, who advanced with a 7-6(5), 6-4 win over Zizou Bergs.

Other quarterfinals feature Alexander Zverev against Alex de Minaur, Daniel Altmaier against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Rafael Jodar against Casper Ruud (who progressed after Felix Auger-Aliassime retired).

Medvedev holds a strong 17-5 record in Shanghai and is targeting qualification for the Nitto ATP Finals.
