Physics Fest Brings Leading Scientists to University of Patras

Patras will host its first Patras Physics Fest on Friday, October 30, 2026, bringing leading scientists and well-known science communicators to the University of Patras for an afternoon of discovery, interactive activities and entertainment. The event will begin at 2pm at the university’s Conference and Cultural Centre and aims to make physics accessible to audiences of all ages.

The student group Young Minds Patras is organising the festival under the auspices of the University of Patras Department of Physics. The event aims to connect the academic community with the wider public, welcoming experienced researchers as well as people curious about the mysteries of the universe.

Leading Scientists and Science Communicators

The programme will feature talks by distinguished scientists, including Stefanos Aretakis, Charis Anastopoulos and James Weatherall, who will offer audiences different scientific perspectives and insights.

Three prominent Greek science communicators will also take part: Pavlos Kastanas, known as Astronio; Stefanos Vamvakos, of Kathimerini Physics; and Christos Kyriakidis, of It’s Just Physics. Through their work, they have helped bring physics to wider audiences across Greece.

Experiments, Interactive Games and Stargazing

Alongside the talks, visitors will be able to watch live scientific experiments, take part in interactive games with prizes and enjoy stargazing activities organised in collaboration with the Orion Astronomy Society.

The combination of scientific presentations and hands-on activities aims to introduce visitors to physics in an engaging and accessible way.
