The meeting also referred to the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Egypt on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Ambassador Mourad highlighted the strategic cooperation between Greece and Egypt across a wide range of sectors, describing tourism as an important bridge between the two peoples.

The two sides also discussed prospects for strengthening air connectivity between Greece and Egypt and initiatives to bring tourism and business organisations from the two countries closer together.

Greece and Egypt focus on cultural tourism

The meeting also highlighted the importance Greece and Egypt place on cooperation through international organisations, including UN Tourism and UNESCO.

Both countries have a long history and rich cultural heritage and hold prominent positions in the global cultural tourism sector.

Kefalogianni and Mourad also discussed prospects for further deepening bilateral cooperation and the possibility of an official visit by the Greek Tourism Minister to Egypt in the near future.
