Lee, ranked No. 153, fought back in the second set and managed to make the contest more competitive, drawing level at 4-4.
However, Sakkari responded when it mattered, breaking her opponent before holding serve to seal the match in straight sets.
The victory sends Sakkari into the last 16 and gives her an opportunity to build momentum as she looks to finish the 2026 season strongly.
Sakkari awaits Australian opponent
Sakkari’s next opponent will be decided by the all-Australian first-round match between Maddison Inglis and Maya Joint.
The Greek will be looking to carry her opening-round form into the next stage of the competition as she targets a deep run in Hong Kong.
The Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open is a WTA 250 hard-court tournament running from November 2-8, bringing together several established names and emerging talents on the women’s tour.
For Sakkari, the tournament represents another opportunity to finish the year on a positive note and remind the tennis world of her ability to compete at the highest level.
