A fitting finale for the Class of 2026

Reflecting on the night, Principal Robertson described the Oakleigh Grammar graduation dinner as a celebration full of emotion.

“The 2026 Graduation Dinner was a fitting finale to formally acknowledge the achievements of our graduating cohort of 2026. Filled with nostalgia as we relived their 13 years of schooling, the evening was full of laughter, tears and, of course, dancing.

Students, their parents and their teachers enjoyed a delicious meal together at this fun-filled send-off before turning their attention to their examinations. I wish them well in their exams and all the very best for their future beyond the Oakleigh Grammar gates.”Mark Robertson, Principal, Oakleigh Grammar

The graduates now turn to their final exams. Victoria’s VCE written examinations began on Tuesday 27 October and run until Wednesday 18 November.

Oakleigh Grammar graduation dinner honours every graduate

A highlight of the Oakleigh Grammar graduation dinner was the individual presentation of each member of the Class of 2026. Mr Dean Damatopoulos, Acting Year Level Leader for Year 12, announced each graduate.

Personalised slides and music accompanied every student, and each one received a gift to acknowledge the milestone. As a result, the presentations offered a meaningful chance to celebrate each student’s contribution to the school. They also reflected the experiences that made each journey unique.

Students who joined the school community in the Early Learning Centre or Prep also received special recognition. Each of them collected a special gift. The honour recognised the many years they spent growing, learning and building relationships at the school.

According to the school, their journeys reflect lasting connections. These bonds run from the earliest years of learning to the end of Year 12.

Toasts, dancing and lasting friendships

The formal proceedings continued with a special acknowledgement from staff. Principal Mark Robertson then raised a toast to the Class of 2026.

The evening also gave graduates time to reflect on the occasion and the people who supported their schooling. Finally, the night ended with dancing and celebrations, which brought students, families and staff together for the graduating class.

For the school, the Oakleigh Grammar graduation dinner was a fitting celebration of the students’ achievements and their journey. Days later, the cohort also attended a farewell assembly and Doxology.

Earlier this year, the same Year 12 group met Emanuel Comino to learn about the Parthenon Marbles campaign. Previous cohorts have also posted strong VCE results.

Now the graduates prepare for new opportunities. Even so, they take with them the friendships, experiences and connections built during their time at the school.
