Halloween Performers Accused of Assaulting Eventgoers

by · Greek City Times

Allegations of physical assaults, whippings and biting have emerged following a Halloween event in Athens’ Gazi district, where participants and passers-by claim performers dressed as horror characters attacked them during an interactive game.

Videos circulating online show actors wearing frightening masks, fake blood, chains and carrying chainsaws as they chased participants and members of the public. Several people have alleged that performers inflicted actual injuries, even when victims asked them to stop.

Speaking to Mega Channel’s Live News, a young woman described how one of the performers bit her arm while she was taking a photograph of a poster on a wall.

She said she initially felt the bite but did not experience significant pain because of the adrenaline. However, when she moved to a better-lit area, she noticed that the man’s teeth had scratched her skin.

“I was taking a photograph with my mobile phone, and as I held my arms up at a 90-degree angle, he came over and bit my upper arm. When I reached a well-lit area, I saw that his canine teeth had scratched me and removed a small patch of skin,” she said.

She added that she noticed the bite marks more clearly the following Sunday morning.

“Every tooth had left a mark on my arm. I realised that this was exactly where the man had bitten me. I still have a bruise today,” she told the programme.

Three young women report whip marks and bruises

Three young women, aged 18, 19 and 24, reportedly returned home with injuries including whip marks, bite marks and scratches.

Their mother described their experiences in an interview with Live News, saying the women had bruises and visible marks on their legs, knees and arms.

“They had marks from whips on their legs, and the blows had caused bruising. I asked them what had happened, and they told me that people had hit them with clubs and whips. One of them said she could not even sit on her bed because of the pain,” the mother said.

She also alleged that several people chased the three women before forcing them into a locked van.

According to her account, one of the individuals grabbed her youngest daughter by the neck, pushed her head down and forced her inside the vehicle.

The three women reportedly shouted for help and demanded that their attackers let them out, but those inside the van allegedly told them they would not release them.

Another participant reports hospital treatment

Another participant told Live News that he also suffered injuries during the event and went to hospital for treatment.

He alleged that an actor struck him with a chain while he was simply examining pictures as part of an attempt to solve a puzzle.

He also claimed that similar incidents had occurred during the previous year’s event, although he considered them less severe.

“This is not something new that happened this year,” he said.

The allegations have raised serious questions about safety measures and the conduct of performers during the Halloween Hunt event in Gazi.
