Giorgos Mazonakis has reached 35th place on Kworb’s Global Digital Artist Ranking, a daily list of international digital reach that draws on Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Shazam and Deezer.
The ranking reflects more than curiosity after his death. His catalogue is being searched, streamed and saved at a scale that has pushed him above artists with huge daily plays, including Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran and Oasis.
The list is not a global Spotify chart. It is a composite snapshot of digital activity across several platforms, and positions can move from day to day. Mazonakis had been around 40th earlier in the week before climbing.
For context, Dolly Parton reached about 31st on the same ranking in the days after her death — as an artist with a large core audience in the United States. Mazonakis’s traditional base is Greece, Cyprus and the Balkans, which makes the global jump striking.
His music has also dominated charts at home since 9 September, with streams and radio airplay rising sharply as listeners return to both his hits and older songs.
