Anthi Voulgari: I was offered IV vitamins at Mazonakis clinic

Journalist Anthi Voulgari said on Mega’s Society Hour that she had been a patient at the same Kolonaki clinic now tied to Giorgos Mazonakis’s death — and that staff there offered her intravenous vitamins.

Voulgari said she went for her long-time dermatologist, was shown around, and was offered an IV vitamin treatment. That offer, she said, troubled her after what doctors have said about the conditions such drips require.

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis was on the same panel. Voulgari asked him directly whether procedures at the clinic follow medical protocol.

“I hear the scientific community saying that this cannot be done unless there are specific conditions because it can cause you an allergy,” she said. “As Minister of Health, are you sure that everything that happens in this clinic is happening according to medical protocol?”

Georgiadis said the clinic had been inspected. “This particular clinic is vetted and very serious, with serious people,” he said. The programme noted he had visited the clinic himself a few months earlier.

The exchange came as Greek television turned from Mazonakis’s death to how private clinics sell drip treatments. Two doctors from the Kolonaki practice face a manslaughter charge and have been remanded. They deny wrongdoing.
