Alleged sexual harassment on minor school girls: Case under POCSO Act registered against Govt. School Head Master

Mysuru: Mysuru Rural Police have registered a case under POCSO Act against Hanchya Government School Head Master for alleged sexual harassment on a minor school girl.

The Mysuru Rural Police at about 9 pm on Sept. 27 has registered a POCSO case against Hanchya Government Primary School Head Master 59-year-old Ramu Shetty.

Details: On Sept. 24, four minor school girls had complained to their parents that the Head Master had behaved indecently and sexually harassed them following which the parents had lodged a complaint with the District Child Protection unit on Sept. 25 morning.

Based on the complaint, District Child Protection Officer P.S. Asha and Block Education Officer (BEO) Anantharaju went to Mysuru Rural Police Station, collected information from the minor school girls and handed them over to District Child Welfare Committee for counselling.

During counselling, the girl students told the counsellors that the Head Master had not harassed them but teachers Gopinath, Usha Kiran and Nagarathna had told them to complain against the Head Master with their parents. Based on the statements from the minor girls, Mysuru Rural Police had not registered a case.

But on Sept. 27, one of the minor girls went to the Police Station along with her parents on Sunday night and filed a complaint alleging that Head Master Ramu Shetty had behaved indecently and sexually harassed her.

Based on her complaint, Mysuru Rural Police registered a case under POCSO Act against Head Master Ramu Shetty.

As the news of the Head Master sexually harassing the school girls spread, hundreds of people, who barged into the school, reportedly assaulted the Head Master and injured him following which he was admitted to a private hospital from where the HM wrote a letter to the Deputy Commissioner & Mysuru Rural Police alleging conspiracy against him from teachers Gopinath, Usha Kiran and Nagarathna and has sought legal action against them.
