Westminster Bridge was plunged into chaos this morning as a man was critically injured in a stabbing incident, leading to the bridge being cordoned off by hundreds of police officers. The victim is now fighting for his life in hospital, while three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and another for affray.

According to MailOnline, authorities are treating the stabbing as "an isolated incident" and not an act of terrorism. The Metropolitan Police were called at 10:43am on Sunday, November 24, following reports of a brawl on the bridge.

They said: "Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended and found a man suffering from a stab injury. He has been taken to hospital in a critical condition. Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and one person has been arrested on suspicion of affray. Two of them have been taken to hospital for minor facial injuries. A road closure is in place. Enquiries continue."

Shocked bystanders took photos showing multiple police vehicles and Transport for London 'Incident Response' units at the scene. Witnesses reported that "hundreds" of officers were present and that cordons had been established, reports the Mirror.

Concerned social media users took to X, with one user posting: "Westminster Bridge closed in both directions. Hundreds of Police at the scene with the Bridge cordoned off. What's going on? ". The area around Westminster Bridge remains closed to traffic in both directions as police carry out their enquiries, reports the Daily Record.
