Amazon Black Friday deal sees price drop on 'phenomenal' Apple AirPods with £50 off
by Catherine Addison-Swan · ChronicleLiveAmazon has slashed prices on a selection of bestselling Apple products in its Black Friday Week sale - including the brand's "phenomenal" earbuds.
The online retail giant is currently offering 22% off Apple AirPods Pro 2 Wireless Earbuds, bringing them down from £220 to £179 - their cheapest ever price on Amazon, according to price tracker CamelCamelCamel, and £50 cheaper than on the Apple website. Available for the same reduced price at Currys, Apple promises "ground-breaking" sound with the AirPods Pro 2 with features including intelligent noise cancellation and touch controls.
With improved sound and call quality compared to the first generation AirPods, these earbuds deliver "crisp, clear high notes and full, rich bass in stunning definition", according to the iconic brand. The AirPods Pro 2 have earned an average rating of 4.7 out of five stars based on more than 11,000 reviews from Amazon shoppers, and are the number one bestselling in-ear headphones on the site, with the early Black Friday discount spelling the perfect opportunity to snap them up whether as a payday treat or Christmas gift.
One person praised the earbuds in a five-star review: "The Apple AirPods Pro 2 are an absolute game changer! From the moment I unboxed them, I was impressed by the quality and attention to detail. The sound quality is exceptional, with high-fidelity audio that truly enhances my listening experience. The Active Noise Cancellation feature works wonders in blocking out background noise, making it perfect for focused listening or when I'm on the go."
Another shopper agreed: "Outstanding! As soon as I put them in my ear the feeling was right! No loosening when moving or in the gym, and the sound is incredible! All the sound options in the earphone settings make this a joy! The bass and treble are amazing, and comparing to my old earphones is like chalk and cheese."
A third customer said: "Incredible. Listening to music these seem to be perfectly balanced no matter what you are listening to. Not too bassy, not too raspy, no background hiss at all. You can hear music so clearly that listening to your favourite songs give new listening pleasure."
And someone else wrote: "Sound quality in these tiny things is phenomenal. Love the ability to turn noise cancellation on and off with a little squeeze of a bud. Charge lasts as long as I need it to - have never had them die on me. Charging case is a perfect size to slip into a pocket. Absolutely love how they seamlessly switch between my phone, iPad and Mac without me doing a thing."
Overall, 83% of Amazon shoppers gave the Apple AirPods Pro 2 a five-star rating, although some reviewers felt that despite their state-of-the-art features they were still "too expensive" for a pair of earbuds. Some customers said they also experienced issues with their fit, with one person feeding back: "Unfortunately when moving about the earbuds kept moving and falling out."
Another reviewer complained: "Didn't find it conformable despite trying the different tips, it keeps coming loose without me even walking or running."
Other Apple deals to have launched in the Amazon Black Friday Week sale include 29% off a four-pack of Apple AirTags, now £84 reduced from £119, and £150 off the MacBook Air Laptop released this year, available for £949 reduced from £1,099.
Apple isn't the only tech giant to have slashed prices for Black Friday, with Samsung also launching a sale with top deals including £250 off the Galaxy S24 Ultra and £200 to save on the Galaxy Z Flip6. And Amazon is offering some sizeable reductions on its own devices too, with its Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet discounted to its lowest ever price of £74.99 with 50% off - you can read more about Amazon's tech offers here.
