Man arrested after alleged burglary of England cricketer Ben Stokes' County Durham home
by Daniel Hall · ChronicleLiveA man has been arrested following a burglary at the home of England cricket captain Ben Stokes, police have confirmed.
The all-rounder was leading England in their Test tour of Pakistan when the alleged burglary took place on October 17, but his wife and children were at home. High value items were reportedly stolen from the Castle Eden property, including Stokes' OBE for services to cricket and a specially engraved ring with the England logo.
Stokes' family were unharmed in the burglary, but the cricketer said in a statement on social media that the incident had taken a toll on their "impact on their emotional and mental state".
Durham Constabulary have now confirmed that a 32-year-old man from North Yorkshire was arrested overnight. He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Officers continue to appeal for information and have urged anyone who can help to call 101, quoting incident number 543 of October 17.
