BBC Strictly pro Amy Dowden breaks silence on shock hospital dash after post-show health scare
by Zoe Delaney, Laura Carreno · ChronicleLiveStrictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has broken her silence following a health scare over the weekend. During a chat on It Takes Two with Janette Manrara, Lauren Oakley and JB Gill, the 34 year old Welsh dancer revealed she was rushed to hospital on Saturday after "feeling unwell" post the live show.
As a precautionary measure, Amy was taken from Elstree Studios, the BBC One show's production centre, to Barnet Hospital. However, in a surprising turn of events, Amy made an unexpected appearance on the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two this Friday (November 1).
She updated fans on her health status while chatting with presenter Janette, as JB prepares for his performance with temporary dance partner Lauren Oakley. "I'm feeling so much better and I'd just like to thank everyone for all the love and support I've received and to my Strictly family", she expressed.
Amy's celebrity dance partner, JB Gill, also took to Instagram to express gratitude for the public's support following her health scare. The JLS star wrote: "On behalf of both @amy_dowden and I, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for voting for us and wishing us well. We absolutely loved our performance on Saturday night and are so grateful to be through to another week on @bbcstrictly Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support."
This year saw Amy Dowden's triumphant return to the Strictly Come Dancing competition after her brave battle with breast cancer, which included a mastectomy and chemotherapy treatments. On Sunday night's pre-recorded Results Show, JB Gill was left to stand alone on stage, as he and Dowden were spared from landing in the bottom two following their charming foxtrot to "Dancing In The Moonlight" by Toploader, reports the Mirror.

A spokesperson for Amy provided an update on Sunday, stating: "Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy's privacy in matters of health is kindly respected."
The BBC explained that due to unforeseen circumstances, Amy was "unable" to participate in the results show, which is taped on Saturday post-live show and broadcast on Sunday.
Last year, while honeymooning in the Maldives with her husband, fellow professional dancer Ben Jones, Amy discovered a lump in her breast. She was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
Following her treatment, she joyfully announced in February that her tests indicated she has "no evidence of disease".
Amy Dowden has been candid about her cancer journey, inspired by the positive impact of her documentary on Crohn's disease, which helped her to "accept" her condition for the "first time ever". She led the BBC programme Strictly Amy: Crohn's And Me, discussing her own struggles with Crohn's and connecting with others affected by it.
The NHS website describes Crohn's as a lifelong condition that can cause symptoms such as stomach aches, fatigue, and diarrhoea. Amy experienced a Crohn's flare-up during the Strictly live tour in 2022, which resulted in her hospitalisation in Manchester.
