‘Transfer bomb’ as Chelsea get involved – Manager says player has ‘whole package’

Chelsea have entered the race to sign FC Nordsjælland’s Caleb Yirenkyi this summer.

The Ghana international’s development and performances for both the club and country haven’t gone unnoticed.

Chelsea are the latest club to show interest in the 20-year-old, and he fits their transfer policy.

Chelsea join transfer chase

That’s according to Bold, relayed by PL Bold, who state the Premier League side have joined the battle for the midfielder.

It’s not common for the English club to look at the Danish market. Therefore, the outlet says their interest in Superliga star is a ‘transfer bomb’.

Caleb Yirenkyi moved to Europe when FC Nordsjælland signed him from Right to Dream academy in 2024. He played 52 matches, mainly in the middle of the pitch, but occasionally as a defensive midfielder and a centre-back.

He also starred at the World Cup, scoring two goals in the group stages, which has seen him attract more clubs.

Chelsea are showing interest, and the Ghanian fits their policy of buying young talents.

The Danish club have already rejected multiple offers from unnamed clubs but may not be able to retain him beyond this summer.

The report claims Nordsjælland would need DKK 200m [€26.75m] to sell. This should be affordable for the Premier League side.

In December, Sport Witness relayed news that Brighton & Hove Albion had identified him as a replacement for Carlos Baleba. It’s unclear whether the Seagulls are still keen.

Manager praises Chelsea target

The Danish club are in Sweden to face GAIS in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers later today.

Chelsea transfer target Caleb Yirenkyi has the ‘whole package’

FC Nordsjælland manager Jens Fønsskov Olsen talked about Caleb Yirenkyi during his press conference, and Thursday’s edition of Göteborgs-Posten relays his comments.

“He is back and ready to play. He had a very good experience at the World Cup with his country. We are very proud of him,” he said.

“He has the whole package, so to speak. Yirenkyi dominated the league last season. He is technical, strong and has a good physique. He can play in almost every position in the team.”

Chelsea agree with that sentiment and the Blues have identified their latest transfer target.
