Player to arrive in England today for Manchester City medical – Total agreement reached
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessManchester City are on the verge of signing Marseille’s Gerónimo Rulli, after selling James Trafford to Leeds United on Thursday.
The Etihad club have been working on signing the goalkeeper for the past week or so. Last Friday, we relayed news of the Argentina international agreeing a two-year contract with the Citizens.
On Thursday, Sport Witness covered claims from France of a verbal agreement between Manchester City and Marseille.
The Ligue 1 side had rejected a €2m bid and demanded €3.5m. Rulli’s representative Kristian Bereit has been in England and that promoted Manchester City to improve their bid.
Manchester City reach total agreement
Enzo Maresca’s side have found an agreement with both Marseille and the 34-year-old.
L’Equipe also claims the French club are expected to formalise Gerónimo Rulli’s sale to the English club.
Manchester City have reached an agreement in principle with Marseille after offering €3.5m. The two clubs had been sorting out the last details on Thursday.
The stopper could travel to England as early as Friday or Saturday, to carry out formalities and complete his transfer.
Manchester City visit on Friday
Another report from the same newspaper on Friday morning looks at Marseille’s various exit operations. They have been working on offloading the Argentine, Facundo Medina and Nayef Aguerd.
Gerónimo Rulli is ‘very close’ to joining Manchester City for €3.5m. This will allow them to recover the money invested to sign him from Ajax in 2024.
L’Equipe claims there’s expectation for him to arrive in England today to carry out medical tests with the English club. His impending move to the Premier League side has seen Marseille make a loan offer for Neom SC goalkeeper Marcin Bułka.
Rulli made 73 appearances for the French club, keeping 14 clean sheets and conceding 99 goals for Marseille.
He won’t get regular minutes at Manchester City because the Argentine will be Gianluigi Donnarumma’s backup.
