Sheffield United secure signing for bargain deal – Details of Blades investment
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessSheffield United have completed the signing of Jordan Ayew on a free transfer on Tuesday.
Footy-Africa reports on the details of his salary, and Sheffield United will end up making a minimal investment.
Rejected several clubs for Sheffield United
The Ghana international was without a club since ending his two-year spell at Leicester City in June.
His status as a free agent attracted interest before Sheffield United convinced him.
Two days ago, we relayed news of the forward rejecting offers from Cyprus’ POEL Nicosia and Apollon Limassol. Blackburn Rovers were then working on the signing.
Later that day, talks with Tony Mowbray’s side collapsed and the Blades made a quick move to reach an agreement with the 34-year-old.

The attacker confirmed a quick chat with Chris Wilder convinced him to move to Bramall Lane.
“It happened really, really quick because I was in Ghana and the manager called me last week. I didn’t think twice, I just took the opportunity,” he said.
Footy-Africa, after relaying his comments, reports the salary details. Jordan Ayew has signed a contract until the end of the season.
The outlet, who make it clear it’s their information, states the Blades are offering him a gross salary of £500,000 per year.
This comes to £41,667 gross per month, and the net monthly salary should be just over £20,000.
He was earning significantly more at Leicester City and had to take a ‘sizeable reduction’ in salary to join the Championship side.
The move to Sheffield United allows him to continue in England, which is something he desired Ayew has made a ‘financial sacrifice’ to join the Blades.
Sheffield United have secured an experienced player who can operate across a front three and managed 97 goals and 58 assists from 607 matches in his club career. Taking this and his salary into account, Wilder’s side have secured a bargain deal.
Footy-Africa makes no mention of the signing-on bonus or agent fee in their report.
