‘Biggest contender’ Celtic making strongest bid for signing – Player waiting to pack bags

by · Sport Witness

Hull City have joined Celtic in the race to sign UD Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkaš, and the Tigers have to make a concrete effort to beat Martin O’Neill’s side.

Kasper Schmeichel was Celtic’s No.1 last season, and his retirement has forced O’Neill’s side to look for a new stopper. Hull City sold their No.1, Ivor Pandur, to Rangers this summer.

The Scottish champions have identified a few targets, including the 27-year-old and Tjark Ernst. However, the latter left Hertha BSC for Feyenoord earlier today.

On July 3rd, Sport Witness relayed news of O’Neill’s side submitting a €4m bid for Horkaš. There were other claims of Celtic offering €7m to the Segunda División side.

Celtic and Hull City in mix

La Provincia, a newspaper local to UD Las Palmas, covers Celtic and Hull City when discussing the latest about the stopper.

The Spanish club had given him permission to sort out his future, which he hasn’t done yet. Therefore, the Croatian has started pre-season training for the first time and is ‘still waiting to pack his bags’.

Las Palmas are aware of the growing interest in Dinko Horkaš, after his impressive form last season. He kept 13 clean sheets and conceded 39 goals from 41 league matches.

Celtic are his ‘biggest contender’ and are ‘making one of the strongest bids’ to sign him.

Martin O’Neill’s side have to be wary of Hull City, who are also keen. Levante UD are monitoring him.

Las Palmas standing firm

Transfermarkt value Dinko Horkaš, who has a contract until 2028, at €5m. However, UD Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez will only sanction a move for a fee close to €10m.

La Provincia relay Scottish claims of Martin O’Neill’s side tabling a €7m bid.

There’s no indication whether Celtic or Hull City are willing to come close to the Spanish club’s request.
