Tottenham approach for Nottingham Forest player revealed – Brazilian contingent happy

Nottingham Forest’s Brazilian contingent has been the subject of two interesting updates from the local media, including a Tottenham Hotspur approach. Fresh information came for both Igor Jesus and Morato ahead of the new Premier League season.

Brazilian outlet Trivela has provided new details on how Forest view Igor Jesus internally after turning down interest from elsewhere. Also, the outlet revealed why Morato’s camp are optimistic about working under Oliver Glasner.

Rejected offers underline Igor Jesus stance

Igor Jesus only arrived at the City Ground last summer, but Nottingham Forest have already shown they have no intention of letting him leave.

According to Trivela, the Premier League club rejected approaches from Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Porto and Juventus during this transfer window. The report says Forest rate the Brazilian highly. So the club were unwilling to even entertain the offers.

The same report also offers an insight into how the club see the 24-year-old fitting into Glasner’s plans.

Rather than competing as the main centre-forward, Igor Jesus is expected to operate as one of the two attacking midfielders behind the striker. Forest are still looking to add a physical focal point in attack.

Chris Wood remains a trusted option after his excellent goalscoring return two seasons ago. However, Forest are aware he turns 35 in December and has been dealing with an ongoing knee issue. That has kept the search for another traditional No.9 active. But Igor Jesus is expected to fill a different role.

Morato encouraged by Glasner appointment

Centre-back Morato has also received a positive update, although this one concerns his future under Forest’s new manager.

Trivela report that the former Benfica defender’s representatives are pleased by the prospect of working with Glasner. The Austrian has a strong track record of improving centre-backs.

Marc Guéhi and Maxence Lacroix are highlighted as examples of defenders who reached another level under Glasner at Crystal Palace. Therefore, this gives Morato’s camp confidence ahead of the new campaign.

The 25-year-old is expected to begin the season as Forest’s fourth-choice centre-back. However, the picture could quickly change.

Murillo’s absence has seen Morato feature regularly during pre-season, while Zach Abbott, Tyler Bindon and Jair are all still only 20 or 21 years old.

That should leave the Brazilian with plenty of opportunities to compete for minutes as Glasner settles on his preferred defensive options.
