Nottingham Forest could have Arne Engels within days – Positive news from Belgium on Celtic player

Nottingham Forest are ready to beat competition to sign Celtic‘s Arne Engels this summer.

The Belgium international starred for Celtic last season, managing seven goals and eight assists from 47 matches.

His performances convinced Nottingham Forest to sign him in January, but Martin O’Neill’s side blocked their attempt.

The Premier League side aren’t giving up and are still keen on signing the midfielder. Last week, Sport Witness relayed news of Nottingham Forest identifying him as a replacement for Elliot Anderson.

Crystal Palace are also in the mix, but it’s Forest rushing ahead.

Nottingham Forest pushing to sign Celtic player 

On Monday, multiple claims from the UK have stated Manchester City have agreed a €130-150m (depending on who you choose to believe) deal for Elliot Anderson.

Belgium’s Walfoot relays that and then shares their own take on Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Arne Engels.

Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, along with AS Roma and Atlético Madrid, have him on their list.

The 22-year-old will move to the Premier League this summer and has plenty of options to pick from. Among these, Vítor Pereira’s side are now leading the race, and Anderson’s sale will provide the Reds the much-needed financial boost.

Walfoot, who makes it clear it’s their own information, claim other clubs are monitoring the Celtic player. However, Nottingham Forest are pushing hard to get ahead and close the deal.

The outlet further adds the Reds should finalise the Celtic midfielder’s signing next week or at latest, the week after that.

Engels is also keen to wrap up his Celtic Park exit soon, to have a full pre-season with his new club.

Price could be over €25m

There’s no mention of the fee that Martin O’Neill’s side will collect from Nottingham Forest or the player’s personal terms. There will be more clarity about that in the next few days.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness relayed news that Celtic value Arne Engels at over €25m.

He has a contract until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €20m.
