Agreement on all fronts – Manchester United close to sealing €50m signing

Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson to join this summer.

Journalist Michele Criscitiello reports that the deal is almost closed for the Brazilian. Manchester Untied are set to pay €50m, with an ‘agreement on all fronts’.

Manchester United close

According to the journalist, Ederson is headed to the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United closing in on a deal for their potential Casemiro replacement.

The former Real Madrid man is departing at the end of June on a free transfer, leaving Manchester United with a major hole to fill in their midfield.

The 34-year-old has been revived under Michael Carrick, playing a starring role as United have secured Champions League football. There have been calls for him to remain for another year, but he is departing. A move to Inter Miami to united with Lionel Messi looks likely.

And it seems Manchester United have wasted no time in securing his replacement. According to Criscitiello, the deal for Ederson is almost closed. United have an agreement on all fronts on a €50m deal for the Atalanta midfielder.

Manchester United sprint

Reports throughout this month have indicated he was a potential target at Old Trafford this summer.

Indeed, a report yesterday stated that Manchester United were confident of signing both Ederson and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali this summer.

That was preceded by a report last week stating that Manchester United were ‘sprinting’ to get the deal for Ederson over the line.

They had taken advantage of Atletico Madrid cooling their interest in the 26-year-old to steal a march themselves. Now it appears that a deal is close to being completed.

The question is whether he will be the only midfielder reinforcement this summer. Or will a completion of this deal then see Manchester United turn their attention elsewhere, for instance Newcastle and Sandro Tonali.
