Liverpool attempt to snatch signing from rival – Forced to sell, €50m fee
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessLiverpool are ready to challenge Paris Saint-Germain in the race for AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche.
Mohamed Salah has left Anfield, and the Premier League side are looking for his successor this summer.
Liverpool chased Yan Diomandé for several months, but he has given preference to Luis Enrique’s side. This has seen the Reds look for alternatives.
On June 30th, Sport Witness covered claims France that Andoni Iraola’s side are keen on signing PSG’s Bradley Barcola. However, there have been no further advances.
New attacking target for Liverpool
The Merseyside club are looking at Maghnes Akliouche. That’s according to Le Parisien, who cover the latest on them and the Champions League winners.
He graduated from AS Monaco’s academy and made his first team debut in 2022.
The France international has managed 23 goals and 28 assists from 139 matches of which seven goals and 11 assists were from the last season.
PSG have identified him as the priority target and have agreed personal terms. The Ligue 1 winners have already submitted several offers, without a mention of the details, and Monaco have rejected them.
Liverpool’s approach for PSG target
Andoni Iraola’s side are keen on signing the 24-year-old and have made an approach. The newspaper doesn’t specify whether they contacted his agent, AS Monaco or both.
The Reds are accelerating their pursuit and are ready to challenge PSG.
Le Parisien claims Monaco ‘must sell several of their key players’ to balance their books. This, coupled with PSG’s failure to find an agreement with their Ligue 1 counterpart, will give Liverpool hope of securing his services.
Maghnes Akliouche’s contract expires in 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €50m. AS Monaco are asking a fee around this region.
PSG haven’t met their demand and Liverpool are unlikely to have an issue paying €50m.
For now, the Frenchman is still close to the Paris club. The Reds have to convince the player to join them, to stand a chance of signing him.
