‘Significant competition’ – Leeds United and Sunderland in fight for signing

by · Sport Witness

Leeds United and Sunderland are in the picture to sign Royal Charleroi’s Yacine Titraoui in the summer.

Earlier this year, Sport Witness relayed news Leeds United have the 22-year-old on their radar. The same source pointed out Sunderland’s failure to sign him last summer.

The Jupiler Pro League club signed him from Algerian side Paradou AC in July 2024, and he made 32 appearances last season.

This season, the Algeria international has already played 3,184 minutes from 34 matches.

His league stats this season are as follows:

  • Appearances: 30
  • Starts: 29
  • Total minutes: 2,545
  • Minutes per game: 85
  • Interceptions per game: 1.3
  • Tackles per game: 1.8
  • Possession won (final third): 0.4
  • Ball recovered per game: 5.8
  • Clearances per game: 1.3
  • Duels won per game: 4.3

Leeds United and Sunderland threat

Media Foot report Yacine Titraoui’s performances have convinced several people at Marseille.

He’s expecting to leave the Belgian club after this season, and the Ligue 1 side want to secure his services. Media Foot made no mention of Leeds United, Sunderland or any other club in their report.

DZ Foot in Algeria now relay this claim and then provide their own take on this case. The midfielder could be a credible option to further strengthen the French club’s squad in the summer.

The outlet, however, warn Marseille that the operation won’t be easy because of Daniel Farke’s side and the Black Cats.

Marseille will face ‘significant competition’, in particular from Leeds United and Régis Le Bris’ side. The Premier League duo are keeping a close watch on the player and their interest could drive up the price.

Titraoui is ‘destined to leave’ Royal Charleroi in the next window but it’s unclear as to where he will move next. The French club have to overcome the Whites and Sunderland to acquire his signature.
