A twist on a popular character

Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls is here, and Arc System Works has teased the first DLC character as part of the Year 1 character pass. While the game’s characters are split into teams, it appears that the DLC characters will not follow this format, as no official team has been announced. However, given that the first character is a twist on a fan favourite, we could see alternate multiverse versions of popular characters.

‘Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls’ Phoenix Cyclops release date window

Phoenix Cyclops is set to release in Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls sometime in Fall 2026. No official date has been given yet, but with four characters in year one, you can expect it around three months after release, sometime in late October or early November.

‘Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls’ Phoenix Cyclops gameplay

We haven’t seen any gameplay of the character yet, but we do have a small initial teaser which you can see below:

Phoenix Cyclops is from the Phoenix Five incarnation of the X-Men, which can be seen in Avengers vs. X-Men. Alongside Cyclops’ known and regular abilities, this version possesses the Phoenix Force, which will enhance his abilities and add a flaming flare to his moveset.

While we don’t know if the DLC characters will form a team, Cyclops sits alongside Emma Frost, Namor, Colossus, and Magik in the original incarnation of the Phoenix Five. While we have Magik in the game already, the rest of them are not in Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, which could make for a fascinating, diverse team.
