Strictly's Pete Wicks left co-star's sons 'fuming' over fight on brutal show

Jennifer Ellison has shared how her three sons really reacted to her on-screen fight with Pete Wicks on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Under orders from the show's instructors back in 2022, Pete, 36, went up against the Brookside star while wearing helmets and landed a blow to her head, which he later said he regretted.

After the exchange, the pair were left in tears and Pete swiftly apologised to the 41-year-old.

Reflecting on the moment, Jennifer said that while she wasn't bothered by it, her sons, ages 14, 10, and nine, struggled to watch the scene and wanted to go after the Strictly Come Dancing hopeful.

She said: "He [Pete] did [get emotional], he was so upset, and gutted but it's what we had to do, so, I wasn't bothered at all. When the kids watched they were like, 'right where is he? I'm going to get him'," she added, laughing.

Gushing over her former co-star, Jennifer had nothing but praise for Pete, who has since returned to the new series. "He is literally one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life, if you're going to get punched by someone, make it Pete Wicks.

"He is such a lovely, lovely, guy, like literally one of the nicest people I've met in the industry. He's such a gorgeous guy," Jennifer added. The actress went on to say that despite the brutality of the programme, she believes it's "the most rewarding" show she's done so far.

"It was so horrific at the time, I mean, I've never known a show to be so true and so full on, like 24/7," she shared.

"You don't sleep and it's just relentless and what you put your body through... but for me, that show was probably the most rewarding show I've ever done, because I was in a bit of a stalemate with myself, and I had let myself kind of go and didn't look after myself or go gym."

Jennifer says being thrown out of her comfort zone made her realise that she does still have good stamina and she has since got back into a healthy fitness routine. Away from the cameras, the actress owns a dance studio that provides elite intense Dance and Musical Theatre training, but is keen to get back into acting.

From December, Jennifer will be taking on the role of Poison Ivy in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Venue Cymru. For tickets and availability, see here.
