Strictly Come Dancing has been thrown into another predicament as another star has sustained an injury. Professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova, who teamed up with Olympic swimmer Tom Dean for the 2024 series, suffered a broken thumb during practice.

The 35 year old dancer might have had to withdraw from the competition, yet she continues to perform in group numbers with fellow professionals.

While rehearsing for this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing instalment, Nadiya had an unfortunate fall on her hand, resulting in a fractured thumb bone. She received immediate medical attention on set after the mishap occurred on Wednesday.

Following an X-Ray that confirmed the fracture, Nadiya was advised to rest. It is now understood she will miss some parts of this weekend's show but has been given the green light to partake in certain performances slated for future episodes.

An inside source disclosed to The Sun: "Nadiya was training with the other pros when she fell. Her thumb basically snapped and it looked incredibly painful. Everyone crowded around her.", reports the Mirror.

The informer also mentioned: "Nadiya's thumb was badly swollen and bruised, but she doesn't want to let anyone down and is adamant she can do the pre-recorded number. A doctor eventually cleared her and she will be able to film, but might be treated with kid gloves by fellow pros."

The insider revealed that despite dealing with a severe injury, the Ukrainian dancer remains determined and intends to push through as much as she can on the show. The BBC has been approached by The Mirror for a statement regarding the incident.

Amidst concerns that Nadiya may depart from the series, fans have noticed her apparent distress during this year's 2024 run after her separation from fellow professional Kai Widdrington. Taking their thoughts to social media about the perceived on-screen friction, one viewer remarked this week: "I truly believe a lot of the pros will end up leaving after this year for various reasons. Nadiya- inevitable, she seems p***** at her treatment this year and years priors and the whole awkwardness with Kai doesn't help."

Further fan input saw another stating: "Kai and Nadia, personally, I find them utterly forgettable so I can't say I would be sad to see them go if I'm honest." Another added their speculation saying: "I imagine Kai will stay if Nadiya leaves."

Someone else suggested: "Kai, he's had two great runs so one benched year wouldn't affect that as much especially if they go back to a more even male/female split in celebs next year and he's more likely to stay if Nadiya leaves."
