Take a look at this word — what color is it?

The answer is green. Easy, right? Now pretend I asked you the same thing, only the word 'green' was written in the color red. Would it still be as easy? Your brain would be able to identify the correct color, but it would take a few seconds longer to wrap your mind around it. That's what the Stroop effect is — cognitive interference caused by incongruent words and colors. It influences pretty much every person in the world. Think you're the exception?
