Halle Berry's Panicked 12-Year-Old Son Called Father After She Choked Him, Pleaded To Pick Him Up

Halle Berry is currently leading the headlines after reports of her choking her 12-year-old son, Maceo, surfaced in the media. Her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, has accused her of attacking their son and has requested sole custody and a temporary restraining order against her. According to the filing, 12-year-old Maceo called his father during the incident and was in a ‘panicked state’.

According to docs obtained by Page Six, the former couple’s 12-year-old reportedly called his father, Olivier Martinez, in a panicked state and asked him to ‘come pick [him] up right now.’ Martinez said he got a call from his son, Maceo, that lasted 27 seconds. During the call, the young boy appeared scared and panicked.

This prompted Martinez to head immediately to Berry’s home. While he was on his way to Berry’s home, Maceo texted him, writing, “Are u here please come.” He responded to his son’s text and told him he was on his way and that he was just eight minutes away. Martinez said that when he arrived at Berry’s home, Maceo came out and was followed by Berry’s boyfriend, who was carrying a bag with the boy’s clothes.

The fiasco began on September 26, 2026, when Berry entered into Maceo’s room while he was playing a virtual reality game. According to the filing, Berry was furious and began pushing him, after which Maceo asked her to stop. Martinez revealed that the actress told their son he looked “so stupid” and was “such an idiot” for playing with the VR goggles.

The situation escalated and soon turned physical. As per the filing, Berry "grabbed Maceo by the neck and started choking him while shouting, ‘Who is dominant now?! Who is dominant?" Martinez stated that Maceo “had to fight back” and managed to escape Berry’s grip. As the 12-year-old began screaming, Berry’s boyfriend entered the scene.

Following the altercation, Berry allegedly reached out to Martinez and texted him that she ‘felt terrible about what happened last night’. Martinez then informed Berry that Maceo had asked him to pick him up. However, Berry was not okay with it, as she felt Maceo could not fight with his mother, and also told Martinez:

“This is wrong Olivier I’m his mother and this is wrong! He had no respect for his mother, and this should not be ok for you as his father!!!”

The former couple currently holds 50-50 custody of their son. In his filing, Martinez revealed that this is not the first incident; Berry had put Maceo in chokeholds in the past as well. The father has now gone to court and requested that the court halt Berry’s visits with Maceo and grant him sole legal and physical custody. 

The court partially granted and partially denied the request, ordering Berry to stay at least 100 yards away from him. Berry will be allowed unsupervised meetups with their preteen son. She can see Maceo only during court-ordered visitation, which is two days a week and every other weekend, until an October 16, 2026 hearing. Meanwhile, Berry responded through her attorney, Marina Beck, who told TMZ the court filing was baseless.
