Former child star Brandon "Bugg" Hall, best known for playing 'Alfalfa' in the 1994 film The Little Rascals, has started a GoFundMe campaign. He is asking for financial help as he is set to welcome his sixth child. The 41-year-old has started the fundraiser to cover household bills and complete setting up his family's new property in rural Arkansas.
Bug Hall seeks donations ahead of his sixth baby's arrival
Bug Hall shared that his family recently moved onto a new plot of land. Still, he has to finish several things before they can settle in. For now, they are staying in a camper while working on their property. However, the family has fallen behind on some basic expenses like phone bills and propane. They also have to pay an unexpected fee for an electric hookup and need some building materials to complete their new home.
The former child star said that he avoided starting a fundraiser for six years because he felt responsible for the lifestyle he chose. In his words:
"I always said this was my choice, and so I didn't want to offload the glorious burden of it unless there was no other choice. Well, here we are."
Since Bug Hall and his wife's sixth child is due in less than a month, he initially set a goal of USD 2,000. The campaign started on November 5, 2026 and reportedly raised more than USD 9,000 from over 1000 donations within days.
The 41-year-old hopes to complete the remaining work in two weeks so he can take on outside jobs before welcoming his baby. In fact, Bug also asked people to share the fundraiser or pray for his family if they couldn't donate.
For those who don't know, Bug Hall's financial situation is linked to his decision to leave Hollywood for a simpler lifestyle. He had explained that he took a voluntary vow of poverty owing to his religious beliefs. Due to the choice, he gave away most of his possessions and savings instead of continuing a conventional lifestyle.
The former child actor told the Daily Mail that he had moved with his family to an 80-acre property near Mountain View, Arkansas. They planned to build their own home and live off the grid. The family has been working hard towards becoming more self-sufficient, and Bug takes paid work whenever required. However, making the property and preparing for another child has created additional financial pressure for them.
Why did Bug Hall leave Hollywood?
Bug Hall became famous as a kid after playing the role of 'Alfalfa' in The Little Rascals. Later, he appeared in films like The Big Green, Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, Hercules, and more. His television credits include shows such as Charmed. Cold Case and CSI: Miami.
He eventually left acting in 2020. Bug explained that his career no longer aligned with his religious beliefs. Later, in an April 2025 YouTube video titled Into the Unknown, Bug said that he had loved working in film and TV but eventually felt that the industry was no longer compatible with his faith. He described it as difficult storytelling.
The former child actor also described himself as a 'radical Catholic extremist' and spoke about his commitment to a traditional Catholic lifestyle. He tied the knot with Jill Marie DeGroff in 2017. The couple have five children, and now they are preparing to welcome their sixth baby.
