The actor had a four-decade-long career which spanned movies, television and theatre. The actor debuted in 1979 in The Wanderers, in which he was seen as 'Clinton'. Following this, Michael Wright continued to act in several films and major television projects. His passing sparked a sense of grief in the entertainment world.

Michael Wright passed away in his 70s, and Susan, his wife, confirmed the report. Not much is known about Michael Wright's personal life till now. It's also not known how long he had been married to Susan. However, the couple had five kids: Manon Wright, Byron Barr, Brittney Briggs, Brianna Barr, and Sir Barr, as reported. With Michael Wright's passing, people have been wondering about the cause of the same as well.

In her statement, which was shared by Madlina Milana on social media, Susan revealed that her husband passed away on August 21, 2026. His wife expressed her grief while sharing the heartbreaking news of her husband's passing and praised him for the legacy he left behind through his remarkable work.

She mentioned that Michael was loved by his fans, but as a dad and friend, mainly to those who shared a deep personal relationship with him, he was someone who was more than what the world had seen him to be.

Susan further requested privacy as the family is grieving, while also asking people to refrain from sharing unverified information. The family will eventually share more information about Michael's life, legacy, and the work he did, as they intend to celebrate him. An excerpt from the statement could be read as:

"In the coming days, when we are ready, we will share additional information regarding Michael’s life, legacy, and how we intend to honor and celebrate him. Michael, your work will live forever, but your love will live even longer in the hearts of those who knew you best. Rest peacefully, my love. You will be missed beyond words."

Michael Wright was born and brought up in NYC and studied at New Lincoln School. After making a debut with The Wanderers, he delivered a critically acclaimed performance in the 1983 film Streamers. He left an impact, so much so that he, along with his co-stars, earned the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival. He then appeared in The Five Heartbeats, cementing his place in the entertainment world. He was also part of movies like Sugar Hill, The Principal, and The Interpreter

Speaking of his television career, the actor played 'Elias Taylor' in the V franchise from 1983 to 1985 and appeared in V and the sequels V: The Final Battle and V: The Series. Following this, from 2001 to 2003, he played the role of 'Omar White' in the 1997 HBO series Oz. He was also seen in the superhero series Black Lightning and made guest appearances in series like Law & Order, New York Undercover, and Miami Vice.
